Petroleum Marketing Facility design and drafting comprise a major portion of Mr. Arnott’s experience. In 18 years in the downstream sector of the petroleum industry, doing work for 7 companies, he has produced drawings for all aspects of the business between the refinery gate and the customer’s vehicle.  Specifically, he has had extensive experience in the preparation of site plans and proposal drawings from a wide variety of resource material, from hasty sketches to legal surveys, as well as associated proposal elevations and perspective sketches (both as quick studies and careful presentations).  He has prepared many standard drawings as well as the specific construction drawings that are often needed for individual projects. The majority of these drawings fit in with his background in architectural work, but he has created drawings in the structural, electrical and mechanical disciplines (both product piping and regular plumbing as well as some HVAC drawings). For several years he was the senior draftsman with a major national company’s head office and so spent much time on questions of corporate identity and signage.  Finally, he has spent a significant portion of the past 4 years preparing drawings for the wholesale operations of a major regional company, preparing drawings for bulk plant and cardlock facilities.

Architectural drafting was Mr. Arnott’s primary focus for the first phase of his career. Working for several architectural firms in Calgary and in other cities, he was involved in drawing preparation for both large and small projects in the commercial sphere including several large shopping centres and office towers as well as schools and hospitals.

Civil Engineering drawings have been prepared for several clients of the firm.  This has included a variety of items including subdivision services and watershed management..

Mechanical drafting projects were part of Mr. Arnott’s experience at Technical Graphics Ltd., generally under the direction of senior personnel.  The most recent project was a sulphur form.

Structural engineering drawings have been completed for several engineering firms under the direction of the design engineer.

Electrical drawings have been drawn for several projects, again under the direction of senior personnel.

Art has been an interest of Mr. Arnott for many years.  To obtain formal training in it, he recently received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art (with distinction) from the University of Calgary.  His grounding in art fundamentals and techniques will make him better able to assist clients in their smaller scale graphic requirements.
